SAN DIEGO CHARGER TO SERVE AS PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY AT FORMER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Kansas City, KS – On Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., San Diego Chargers Safety Darrell Stuckey will serve as ‘Principal for a Day’ at Stony Point North Elementary School. Stuckey will assume mock Principal duties for the day at his former elementary school. "It is a privilege and an honor to serve as principal for a day at SPN. It's been a little more than a decade and a half since I have walked through the halls,” states Stuckey.
Stuckey will visit each classroom and deliver a brand new reading book to every student. He personally donated the titles to be delivered to the students at Stony Point North Elementary School, which include Cat in the Hat Learning Library’s All About Staying Healthy; Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man, The Invincible Iron Man, The Uncanny X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and The Courageous Captain America books;and Penguin Group’s Who Was Walt Disney? Who is Bill Gates? Who Is Barack Obama?, Who Was Steve Jobs?, and Who Was Sacagawea?
Stuckey will also host a school-wide assembly promoting the NFL’s Play 60 initiative to educate youth about health and fitness, discuss topics such as respect and anti-bullying, and address the importance of education.
“I was overwhelmed with joy when Mr. Lipovac reached out to me to come talk to the students about the NFL’s Play60 initiative and motivate and inspire them to strive to achieve their goals” says Stuckey.
ABOUT DARRELL STUCKEY
A native of Kansas City, Darrell Stuckey attended Stony Point North Elementary School, Arrowhead Middle School, and Washington High School. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Stuckey was drafted by the Chargers in the 4th round of the 2010 NFL Draft and recently signed a multi-year contract that will keep him on the team though 2018.
